The Katsina State Community Watch Corps (CWC), Batsari Command, has arrested a suspected bandits’ informant, Sanusi Bature, who allegedly facilitated the abduction of over 50 individuals in Shirgi community.

Bature, a resident of Tsabawa village, was paraded by security operatives on Thursday, November 21, 2024.

In a video released by the command, the suspect confessed to receiving ₦250,000 for his role in aiding the bandits.

“My name is Sanusi Bature. I am from Tsabawa village. I served as an informant to the bandits. They used to call me on the phone to ask if the area was secure because of the presence of security agencies,” he admitted.

Bature disclosed that he provided intelligence about the movement of security personnel, advising the bandits on when to strike or avoid certain areas to ensure their operations went undetected.

Recounting the Shirgi attack, Bature said:
“When they invaded the Shirgi community, more than 50 people were abducted, and I was paid ₦250,000. In Tsabawa, my village, seven people were abducted but were later rescued.”

The suspect also revealed that the bandits contacted him to deliver his share of the ransom collected from their victims.

The CWC confirmed that during questioning, Bature admitted to all the allegations leveled against him, providing critical insights into his involvement in the attacks.
