The 2024 Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards, held on Sunday, November 24, at the Sugar Factory Film Studios in Ilorin, Kwara State, was a night of triumph for filmmaker and actor Femi Adebayo. His epic film Jagun Jagun dominated the event, clinching six awards out of 24 categories, including the coveted Best Actor and Best Costume honors.
Other notable winners included Momiwa by Biodun Stephen, which secured awards for Best Screenplay and Best Editing. Kolade Alebi’s Unknown Soja also made waves, earning accolades for Best Actress and Best Child Actress.
A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award to veteran actor Kanayo O. Kanayo. The award was presented by Kwara State Governor AbdulRazaq AbdulRahman alongside the Director-General of the National Institute of Hospitality and Tourism, Aare Abisoye Fagade. During the ceremony, the governor emphasized Kwara State’s vision of becoming a premier destination for film production, expressing hopes that the newly launched Sugar Factory Film Studios would host two major epic films in 2025.
Founded by Seun Oloketuyi, the BON Awards is a traveling event dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the contributions of Nollywood professionals across Nigeria. Executive Director Feranmi Olaoye praised the jury’s thorough deliberation in selecting this year’s winners.
Hosted by celebrated actress Toyin Abraham, the star-studded event attracted prominent figures from the film industry, including Binta Ayo-Mogaji, Kazeem Adeoti, Mercy Aigbe-Adeoti, and others.
The night’s achievements underscore the continued growth and global recognition of Nollywood as one of the leading film industries in the world.
