The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has expressed concern over the arrest of one of the church’s pastors overseas for using the phrase “ladies and gentlemen” during a program.

Pastor Adeboye shared this incident during the church’s monthly thanksgiving service held at the RCCG’s Throne of Grace in Lagos on Sunday. The service, themed “My Father’s House,” was broadcast to all RCCG parishes.

According to Adeboye, the pastor’s greeting was deemed discriminatory for failing to include individuals who do not identify as either male or female, as recognized in the local culture.

“The end is nearer than you think. Things are getting worse, and this is a wake-up call,” Adeboye said. “One of my pastors abroad was arrested for simply addressing a gathering as ‘ladies and gentlemen.’ Some people reported him for discrimination, asking, ‘What about those who are neither ladies nor gentlemen?’”

The incident highlights growing cultural and societal shifts in addressing gender identity globally, a topic that has sparked intense debate and varying reactions across communities
