Following the tragic stampede at a children’s carnival in Ibadan, which resulted in the deaths of 35 minors, Prophetess Naomi Silekunola, the estranged wife of the Ooni of Ife, has been remanded in custody. In response, her mother has publicly declared her daughter’s innocence, expressing deep sorrow over the incident and emphasizing that Naomi’s intentions were purely to provide joy and support to the children.
The event, organized by Prophetess Naomi, was intended to cater to 5,000 attendees and was heavily promoted, especially on Agidigbo FM. However, the overwhelming turnout led to a chaotic situation, resulting in the tragic loss of young lives.
The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of Naomi Silekunola, along with other individuals involved in organizing the event. The case has been transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
