Renowned Nigerian activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has sounded the alarm over the alleged theft of ₦180 million from the account of his Non-Governmental Organization. The funds, intended to support educational initiatives for underprivileged children across Nigeria, reportedly disappeared under mysterious circumstances, sparking outrage and calls for immediate investigation.

VDM, celebrated for his unwavering commitment to transparency and public accountability, revealed the shocking development during a recent announcement. He expressed deep concern over the incident, emphasizing the impact the loss could have on the NGO’s ongoing and planned projects. This revelation is particularly jarring given VDM’s consistent efforts to ensure financial transparency, including the development of a dedicated app allowing the public to monitor the NGO’s financial transactions.

The activist disclosed that the missing funds included a substantial donation of ₦100 million made in October 2024 by celebrated music producer Don Jazzy. This donation had been instrumental in bolstering the NGO’s capacity to provide essential educational resources to vulnerable communities. VDM had openly celebrated the contribution, further reinforcing his commitment to the organization’s mission.

Upon discovering the discrepancy during a routine review of financial records, VDM immediately called on financial institutions and relevant authorities to investigate the matter and bring those responsible to justice. He has reassured supporters and stakeholders of his unwavering dedication to the NGO’s goals, despite this setback, and promised to implement enhanced security measures to prevent such incidents in the future.

The news has sent shockwaves through the public, with many expressing solidarity with VDM and emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation. Supporters have also underscored the importance of safeguarding resources meant for critical initiatives like education, urging financial institutions and law enforcement agencies to act swiftly.
