The Anambra State Police Command has achieved significant milestones in its fight against crime, including the rescue of three children allegedly abducted from Bauchi State and sold in Anambra. Four suspects, including an illegal foster mother, have been arrested in connection with this child trafficking case. The police are actively seeking assistance from the public to identify and reunite the rescued children with their families.

In a comprehensive crackdown on criminal activities throughout 2024, the command arrested over 300 individuals involved in offenses such as armed robbery, kidnapping, cultism, and child trafficking. These efforts led to the rescue of 14 kidnapped victims and the recovery of a substantial cache of arms and ammunition, including 43 unexploded improvised explosive devices and over 100 firearms of various brands. Additionally, the police secured more than 30 convictions, with numerous trials ongoing.

Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Itam, highlighted the command’s dedication to reducing crime and enhancing public safety. Notable achievements include dismantling criminal camps, such as one in Nimo, Njikoka Local Government Area, resulting in the seizure of 19 unexploded devices. The arrest of a notorious kidnapper known as “Pablo,” who had been terrorizing regions in Anambra, Enugu, and Delta States, further underscores the command’s commitment to combating criminal elements.

The Anambra State Police Command continues to urge citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities, emphasizing that community involvement is crucial in maintaining security and ensuring the safety of all residents.
