A 14-year-old boy was tragically stabbed to death on a London bus in Woolwich, southeast London, on Tuesday afternoon. The incident occurred around 2:28 pm on a route 472 double-decker bus near the junction of Woolwich Church Street and the A205 South Circular.
Emergency services, including the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance, responded promptly. Despite their efforts, the boy succumbed to his injuries at the scene. No arrests have been made, and forensic teams are actively investigating.
This incident follows another stabbing in the same area on Monday, where an 18-year-old student was seriously injured near Shooters Hill Sixth Form College. Authorities do not believe the two attacks are connected.
Mayor of London, Sir Sadiq Khan, expressed his condolences and emphasized that such violence has no place in the city. He assured residents of increased police patrols to address community concerns.
Superintendent Louise Sergent urged witnesses to come forward, stating, “We are working at pace to arrest the person involved.” She added that the community’s assistance is crucial in bringing the perpetrator to justice.
This tragic event highlights ongoing concerns about youth violence in London, with ten teenagers killed in the city last year. Authorities continue to implement measures to combat such incidents and ensure public safety.
