Chukwudimeme Onwuamadike, known as Evans, has told the Lagos State High Court in Ikeja that he has turned away from crime and is asking the Lagos State Government for leniency. His lawyer, Emefo Etudo, shared this after Evans pleaded not guilty to new charges of murder, attempted murder, and conspiracy to commit kidnapping.

Prosecutors allege that on August 27, 2013, around 10 p.m. in FESTAC Town, Lagos, Evans and Joseph Emeka killed Peter Nweke and Chijioke Ngozi. Both men denied these charges.

Etudo informed Justice Adenike Coker that Evans has applied for a plea bargain through the Attorney-General’s office. He emphasized Evans’s remorse and noted that while in prison, Evans became a 200-level student at the National Open University of Nigeria, achieving top grades in NECO exams through a federal scholarship. Etudo also mentioned that Evans wishes to speak to youths about the dangers of crime.

Prosecutor Sule Yusuf confirmed receiving Evans’s plea bargain application and stated it is under review. The court has scheduled the next hearing for March 20, 2025.

Etudo highlighted that Evans’s transformation was aided by the Redeemed Christian Church of God and the Federal Government, which provided him with educational opportunities to become a better person.
