The Nigerian military has announced the death of Kachalla Na Faranshi, a well-known bandit leader, during a raid in Zamfara State. General Christopher Gwabin Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff, shared this news at the closing ceremony of the CDS Joint Task Force Commanders Conference 2025 in Abuja. He stated that Na Faranshi and several top terrorist commanders were killed in an aggressive raid in the forests of Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
Kachalla Na Faranshi was notorious for smuggling illegal firearms from Mali and Niger into Nigeria. He was a major weapons supplier to various armed groups in the northwestern forests of the country. Before forming his own criminal network, he was allied with the infamous bandit leader Bello Turji.
This operation is part of the military’s ongoing efforts to combat banditry and restore peace in the region. The successful raid demonstrates the commitment of the Nigerian armed forces to eliminating threats posed by such criminal elements.
The death of Na Faranshi is seen as a significant victory in the fight against banditry in Nigeria. It is expected to disrupt the operations of armed groups in the northwest and reduce the flow of illegal weapons into the country.
The military continues to urge citizens to support their efforts by providing timely information on criminal activities. They remain committed to ensuring the safety and security of all Nigerians.
