Security officials have arrested two of the main suspects linked to the killing of 16 travelers in Uromi, a town in Edo State. The travelers, mostly from northern Nigeria, were attacked by a mob that accused them of being kidnappers.

The Department of State Services (DSS) led the operation to track down those responsible. Their arrest is part of an ongoing investigation aimed at bringing all those involved to justice.

The lynching sparked outrage across the country. Many described the act as inhumane and lawless. In the days following the attack, tension rose between groups in Edo and neighboring states.

In response, 14 other suspects have been moved to Abuja for further questioning. The state governor has called for all suspects to be publicly paraded to show that the government is serious about finding justice.

Top officials from Edo and Kano States have also met to ease rising tension and prevent possible revenge attacks. The two states promised to work together to maintain peace and avoid more violence.

The House of Representatives strongly condemned the killings. Lawmakers called it a shameful act and demanded quick action from security agencies. They urged authorities to make sure those found guilty face full punishment under the law.

Investigations are still ongoing. Security agencies say they will continue to arrest anyone linked to the attack. Residents have been asked to stay calm while the case is being handled.
