The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the 19 Northern states and the Federal Capital Territory has condemned the recent attacks in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, where over 50 people were killed. The group described the violence as tragic, inhumane, and completely unacceptable.

Reverend Joseph John Hayab, chairman of Northern CAN, said the continued killing of innocent people in Northern Nigeria is disturbing and must not be tolerated. He warned that justifying such actions through religion or ethnicity is dangerous and shows a lack of respect for human life.

Northern CAN expressed deep sympathy to the families of the victims and the entire Bokkos community. The association called on security forces to arrest those behind the attacks and ensure they face justice. They stressed that the law must be enforced clearly and fairly to restore public confidence.

The group also urged religious and traditional leaders to promote peace and unity among their people. They warned that if these attacks continue unchecked, Nigeria could become a country where human lives are taken without consequence.

While commending the Plateau State Government for its quick response and the reported arrests, CAN encouraged the authorities to remain firm in the fight for peace and justice. The group also asked citizens to stay calm, avoid retaliation, and report suspicious behavior to the police.

The association ended its message by praying for the victims, asking for comfort for the grieving families, and calling for healing in all affected communities.
