A peaceful protest broke out in Abuja as citizens voiced their anger over the amended Cybercrime Act, high cost of living, and other ongoing national issues. Protesters, made up of civil society groups and everyday citizens, gathered at the Unity Fountain early in the day, holding signs and chanting for change.

The demonstration was organized to draw attention to growing concerns about press freedom, online expression, and the rising economic pressure facing Nigerians. Protesters said the amended Cybercrime Act gives the government too much power to silence critics and limit free speech online.

Participants also highlighted the harsh effects of inflation, high food prices, fuel costs, and unemployment. Many of them held placards with bold messages demanding government action to improve living conditions and respect citizens’ rights.

Security officials, including police officers, were seen around the protest area. So far, the protest has remained calm, with no reports of violence or arrests.

Organizers say this is just the beginning of a wider movement and warned that more protests will take place if the government fails to address their concerns. They called for immediate steps to revise the cybercrime law, lower the cost of essential goods, and protect the freedom of speech.

The protest in Abuja reflects growing frustration across the country. Citizens say they are tired of promises and want real action from their leaders. Many who joined the rally urged the government to listen to the voices on the street and respond with fairness and urgency.
