The All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly criticized social media influencer VeryDarkMan for his recent comments targeting Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s attendance at Pope Francis’ funeral in Rome. The party described the remarks as disrespectful and misleading, emphasizing the significance of Akpabio’s presence at the international event.

In a widely circulated video, VeryDarkMan called Akpabio’s trip “shameful,” questioning why the Senate President would travel abroad at a time when Nigeria is grappling with serious domestic issues. He suggested that Akpabio’s actions showed a lack of sensitivity to the challenges facing ordinary Nigerians.

In response, the APC defended Akpabio, stating that his attendance was a diplomatic duty. According to the party, Akpabio led a Nigerian delegation to honor a global religious leader, alongside other heads of state and dignitaries from around the world. They argued that Nigeria’s presence at such important events is vital for maintaining international relationships and promoting the country’s global image.

This isn’t the first time VeryDarkMan has clashed with political figures. In earlier instances, he openly criticized various government decisions, gaining attention for his bold and often controversial opinions. His influence has grown rapidly, especially among young Nigerians active on social media.

Flashback to past controversies, VeryDarkMan had previously challenged the Federal Government’s handling of youth protests, police reforms, and economic issues, drawing both praise and backlash from different sections of the public.

The APC emphasized that national leaders deserve a level of respect, especially when carrying out duties that involve representing the country abroad. They urged Nigerians to avoid being misled by viral commentary and instead seek verified information before forming opinions.
