Mahmoud Abbas, Palestinian President, issued an open letter calling for Hamas disarmament and international peacekeeping forces’ deployment in Gaza, sending this callout letter directly to key world leaders such as French President Emmanuel Macron and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Abbas demanded that Hamas immediately surrender its arms and turn over full control of Gaza to the Palestinian Security Forces; otherwise they will no longer be allowed to govern this region.

He further expressed willingness to allow international and Arab forces, under supervision of the United Nations, to establish themselves in Gaza to protect civilians and oversee a long-term ceasefire agreement.

Abbas also strongly encouraged Hamas to release all hostages and detainees as quickly as possible, stressing that the Palestinian Authority stands ready to assume its responsibilities in Gaza and implement reforms.

As part of his plan, Abbas promised that both presidential and parliamentary elections would take place within one year under international observation, to help restore order and give Palestinians greater voice when choosing their leaders.

This proposal signals an important turn in Palestinian politics, demonstrating Abbas’ willingness to restore unity and seek global support for long-term peace.

French officials applauded Abbas’s move, characterizing it as an earnest and serious attempt to bring about a two-state solution. They noted that any successful peace plan requires disarming Hamas and restoring legitimate governance authority both in Gaza and in the West Bank.

International observers are closely following talks of Middle East peace as momentum builds again. Abbas’ message sets clear conditions for moving forward: disarmament, unity and elections.
