Afrobeats star Davido has officially cancelled his highly-anticipated concert scheduled to take place at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on July 3, 2024. The decision came after unresolved issues between his team and the event organisers.
In a public statement shared via his social media, Davido explained that there were major problems with the event’s planning. These included disagreements with the organisers over key logistics and execution. Despite impressive ticket sales and strong fan support, the show will no longer hold.
He stated, “Despite the love and excitement from fans, there have been major misalignments regarding the show’s execution. Unfortunately, these issues remain unresolved.”
Davido made it clear the cancellation wasn’t due to poor sales or lack of interest. Instead, he said the decision was about upholding the quality of his performances and protecting the experience for his fans.
“It’s not just about performing; it’s about delivering the best experience for everyone who supports me. I won’t compromise on that,” he added.
The concert was set to make history, as Davido would have become the first African artist to headline a solo concert at the 62,850-capacity Tottenham Stadium. Many fans had already purchased tickets and booked travel plans.
While the concert will still go on under the management of the event promoters, Davido confirmed he will not be performing. However, he promised to return to London with a better-organized show in the future.
“London, I’ll see you guys soon—I promise! The rest of my summer shows are still on. Africa must be respected,” he said.
Ticket holders are expected to receive full refunds as the cancellation is processed. Fans around the world have reacted with disappointment but have praised Davido for prioritizing quality and integrity.
His team has also confirmed that the rest of the “Timeless Tour” dates remain unchanged, and all other shows will continue as planned.
