The Anambra State Police Command has arrested two individuals, Chidiebere Okeke and his cousin, Emebo Ogochukwu, for the alleged murder of their brother, Chibuzor Okeke, in Oko community, Orumba North Local Government Area. The suspects reportedly caught Chibuzor engaging in burglary and theft, subjected him to a severe beating, leading to his death, and subsequently buried him in a shallow grave within their compound. Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Itam, disclosed this during a press briefing at the command’s headquarters in Awka.

In a separate development, the command rescued four children allegedly trafficked from Bauchi State to Anambra. Four suspects, including an illegal foster mother, were apprehended in connection with the child trafficking ring. One of the children has been identified, and efforts are underway to reunite them with their parents. CP Itam appealed to the public to assist in identifying the remaining children to facilitate their reunification with their families.

Additionally, the police, in collaboration with the military, civil defence, and local vigilante operatives, dismantled a criminal camp in Nimo, Njikoka Local Government Area, seizing 19 unexploded improvised explosive devices and disrupting the activities of the suspects. In another operation, the anti-cultism squad arrested suspects in possession of firearms, ammunition, and illicit substances, rescuing two female victims who had been sexually abused.

These operations underscore the Anambra State Police Command’s commitment to combating crime and ensuring the safety and security of residents in the state.
