President Donald Trump’s recent suggestion to move Palestinians from Gaza to Egypt and Jordan has upset many Arab-American supporters. Dr. Bishara Bahbah, leader of Arab Americans for Trump, firmly opposed the idea, stating that the group “firmly rejects President Donald J Trump’s suggestion to remove – voluntarily or forcibly – Palestinians in Gaza to Egypt and Jordan.”
Dr. Bahbah, who is of Palestinian origin, played a key role in encouraging Arab-Americans to vote for Trump. He believes there is a “contract” between these voters and the president, emphasizing that they expect the administration to work towards a two-state solution.
Over the weekend, President Trump suggested that Gaza could be “cleaned out” and that Palestinians could be moved to Jordan or Egypt. He mentioned discussing this idea with Jordan’s King Abdullah and plans to speak with Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
This proposal has caused tension with Arab-American communities, especially in places like Michigan, where their support was crucial in the recent election. Many feel that such suggestions undermine the goal of establishing a peaceful Palestinian state alongside Israel.
