The Concerned Christian Youth Forum has criticized popular TikTok user Ogunsanwo Olumide John, known online as Seaking, for allegedly insulting Pastor E.A. Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God. Seaking was arrested by the Nigeria Police in Lagos and moved to the Federal Investigation Department in Abuja under the supervision of Deputy Inspector General Dasuki Galandanchi. He faces charges of cyberbullying.

In a TikTok video that gained widespread attention, Seaking called Pastor Adeboye “very stupid and foolish” for imposing a 100-day fast on his congregation. This led the Concerned Christian Youth Forum to file a petition against him. The group’s leader, Adama Paul James, condemned Seaking’s actions and highlighted the importance of addressing online harassment.

James stated, “This act of brazen cyber harassment is not only reprehensible but also strikes at the heart of our cultural norms and values. It undermines the crucial principle of respect for elders that is deeply embedded in our society.” He expressed concern over the increasing number of young content creators who disrespect esteemed Christian figures under the pretense of entertainment.

He added, “The phenomenon of moral degeneration is reaching unprecedented levels, challenging the very fabric of our values. Christian leaders and elders deserve the utmost respect as they represent wisdom, experience, and our cultural legacy.” James confirmed that Seaking had been arrested and would face legal action for his “unprovoked and disrespectful insult” against Pastor Adeboye.

According to James, this behavior violates Nigerian cybercrime law, specifically Section 24 of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act 2024, which criminalizes cyber harassment and prescribes imprisonment as a penalty. The forum emphasized its commitment to protecting prominent Christian leaders from such attacks and vowed to take decisive action against similar conduct in the future.
