Amotekun disarmed robbery suspect, arrested two more in Ogyun State

    On Sunday, February 16, 2025, operatives of the Ogun State Security Network, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, involved a group of armed bandits in a gunfight along the Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode expressway near Southwestern University. The gunfire resulted in one suspect dead and two others were arrested.

    According to a statement by the Corps Commander, Brigadier General Alade Adedigba, the arrested suspect, Amechi Okoro, during interrogation discovered that he was freed from the Iko correctional centre just last Monday. Okoro’s cooperation led to another gang member, Michael Okoro, who initially fled the scene.

    Suspects recovered Lagos KTU 668 motorcycle, 12 mobile phones, two locally made pistols, ₦113,050 cash, a silver wristwatch and red earpiece. The deceased suspect’s body has been handed over to the police and the arrested will be remanded for further investigation and prosecution.

    The move highlights the commitment of Amotekun Corps to combating crime and ensuring safety for the residents of Ogun State.
