On February 19, 2025, a tragic midair collision occurred at Marana Regional Airport near Tucson, Arizona, resulting in the deaths of two individuals. The incident involved a Cessna 172S and a Lancair 360 MK II, each carrying two occupants at the time of the crash. The Cessna managed to land safely, but the Lancair crashed near runway 3 and caught fire upon impact. The identities of the deceased have not been released.

Marana Regional Airport operates without an air traffic control tower, requiring pilots to communicate their positions and intentions over a common frequency. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have launched investigations to determine the cause of the collision.

This incident adds to a series of recent aviation accidents in the United States, raising concerns about air safety protocols. Authorities are urging pilots and aviation personnel to exercise increased caution to prevent future tragedies.
