The Kogi State Police Command has warned Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to cancel her planned Sallah homecoming in the central part of the state. The police said they received intelligence reports suggesting the event could lead to unrest or disrupt public order.

The senator, who represents Kogi Central in the National Assembly, had scheduled a visit to her hometown during the Eid celebrations. According to police officials, this could draw large crowds, increasing the risk of conflict, especially in areas already tense with political divisions.

In response, the Kogi State Government banned all forms of rallies and public gatherings during the holiday period. The government explained that the measure is needed to ensure safety and prevent any incident that could disturb the peace.

Despite the warnings, supporters of the senator were seen gathering in various towns, showing strong support and chanting in favor of her return. Some waved banners and wore matching shirts, declaring their readiness to welcome her.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan responded by confirming that she still plans to visit her constituency. She said she has a duty to meet her people and celebrate with them. She also stated that her visit is peaceful and not meant to cause trouble.

Meanwhile, the chairman of one local government area in the district declared a curfew ahead of the senator’s visit. The curfew, which is set to last for several hours each night, is aimed at stopping any group movement that could result in a clash.

The situation remains tense. While the senator insists on visiting, security agencies and local authorities continue to call for calm and warn against public gatherings. Residents in affected areas are advised to stay alert and follow official instructions during the holiday period.
