The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Monday released the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results, confirming that over 1.9 million candidates sat for the examination this year.

However, the results of 39,834 candidates have been withheld due to examination malpractices. The board stated that the investigations are ongoing and severe actions will be taken against all confirmed cases of malpractice.

During a press briefing, JAMB Registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyede revealed that 80 suspects are under investigation, with the largest number being in Anambra State at 14 individuals accused of participating in exam malpractice.

He also noted that out of 40,247 underage applicants who sat for the UTME, only 467 scored the minimum threshold to be considered. Astonishingly, 50 underage applicants were linked to cases of cheating during the examination.

Candidates who would like to confirm their results are able to do so by sending “UTME RESULT” to 55019 or 66019, utilizing the same telephone number utilized in registration. Candidates can also get results on the JAMB official eFacility portal.

The testing season of this year has raised issues of examination malpractice, underage participation, and general patterns of performance.

Earlier, JAMB had raised eyebrows on the massive failure in the UTME since more than 1.5 million candidates had scored below 200. That report had raised controversy on the quality of secondary school education and technology in administering exams.

JAMB reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and honesty, ensuring no result will be released until after it has been thoroughly verified. The board vowed to continue engaging with security agents to stem fraud in the exam process.
