Port Harcourt Realtor Accused of Stripping Women Naked at Nightclub

Two women who were celebrating their birthdays at an infamous club in Port Harcourt were reportedly attacked and stripped naked by a real estate agent along with his personal security.

The victims claim that, according to them they paid N200,000 to reserve the table at their party. While they were dancing and filming video at the table with their friends, an person identified as Maduba Okechi Christian walked up to them and asked for a seat. The women refused and he allegedly provoked a violent reacted.

One of the guests, Thonia Okoye, said the man had smashed a bottle over her friend’s head, and then carried them both through the steps with assistance of his security personnel. “They brutally beat me as if I’d committed an offence. They ripped my clothes off in the open and made me bleed,” her memory of.

The friend of hers, Juliet Obasi, said she sustained serious injuries. “He knocked a bottle over my head while one of my teeth got smashed out. I had to be taken to a medical center,” she said.

The victims alleged that the security staff and management failed to stop the attack, even after they called for assistance. They’ve lodged a complaint at the police station and have demanded CCTV video from the venue to prove their claim.

The incident has provoked anger on online platforms, including a lot of Nigerians asking for the realtor’s arrest immediately. One user wrote “These women were enjoying their celebration peacefully. The way they were treated is brutal and a crime.” Others called on the officials to conduct an investigation and make sure justice is done.

The owner of the club has since described this incident “unfortunate and unacceptable” and said that the incident was disclosed to security authorities to take further intervention.

Police said that the person in question as well as the manager of the nightclub were asked to be questioned in the course the ongoing probe.

The incident has brought back calls for greater protection for women in public spaces and accountability for the violent acts that are that are committed in social environments. Many believe that women’s courage in voicing their opinions should be backed by prompt legal action against the perpetrators.
