Tinubu Visits Benue Survivors, Vows Justice for Yelewata Attack Victims

The President Bola Tinubu arrived in Makurdi on Wednesday, to visit the victims of the fatal attack that took place in Yelewata village in the Guma Local Government Area of Benue State. This attack that happened last Friday, claimed the lives of more than 100 people dead, and numerous others wounded.

Tinubu was spotted in the NAF Base at 12.58 p.m. and was taken straight into Benue State University Teaching Hospital. The photos from the visit show the president sitting on the beds in hospitals, embracing hands with patients while listening to stories. He also had a meeting with family members of the victims, some of whom are shocked by their sudden loss of beloved relatives.

Tinubu also instructed security agencies to increase patrols in communities affected and to collaborate with local leaders to stop the spread of violence. Tinubu sought reconciliation between herding and farming groups and urged leaders of the political spectrum to refrain from making remarks that could lead to further conflict.

In his address to the citizens of Benue Tinubu reassured Benue citizens that federal authorities is with Benue and will take all steps to ensure lives are protected and bring order back to the streets.

The president is likely to also visit the scene of the incident in Yelewata and have a meeting with the displaced residents prior to returning to Abuja.
