Police Arrest Suspected Killers of Chinese National in Ogun

    The city in Ogere has been shaken since the morning of January 12 when an Chinese national, 33 years old Chen Wang, was found dead in his office. The body of Chen Wang was found with multiple injuries from stabs which left no doubt Chen Wang was murdered. The shocking discovery shocked the community, and raised questions regarding justice and safety.

    Following the incident immediately following the incident, police began an extensive investigation. Detectives rely on surveillance reviews along with forensic evidence as well as witnesses’ accounts. The investigation soon shifted to two employees of a manufacturing plant working for the same firm as the victims: Yunusa Abdullahi who was 25 and Peace Keno Danlami aged 20. The two were also believed to be engaged in a romantic relationship.

    The investigation revealed that the day before the murder the suspects allegedly altered the system of security, which reduced surveillance coverage. When they gained access, they walked into the victim’s office, then stabbed repeatedly, and fled with the keys to his home. They then gained entry into his home and took valuables, cash, and other items before fleeing the scene.

    The trail slowed for a short time however, police continued to follow the suspects in several states. Police officers from different intelligence agencies worked together to track mobile phone footprints and digital tracks as well as financial transactions.

    Their efforts were rewarded the 14th of July, when suspects were detained at Jos, Plateau State. They were living under false identities, they attempted to go missing but were caught and detained without resistance.

    In the course of interrogation, both suspects were said to have confessed to the offense. They confessed to deactivating their security systems, carrying out the attack, and stealing the property of the victim. Investigators praised the operation as a good case of intelligence-driven policing.

    Both suspects are now in custody and awaiting formal charges, they are expected to be filed. Authorities reiterated their ongoing dedication to ensuring justice for all residents as well as protecting any foreign nationals who are working and living within the nation.

    The arrest provides a sense of closure to a situation which had shook a community and drew the attention of the nation. When legal proceedings begin everyone is keeping an eye on the proceedings hoping that justice will be done.
