As security concerns mount in Nigeria’s dangerous Southern Kaduna area, gunmen thought to be bandits have taken Hon. David Ali Gwantu, the councillor representing Gwantu Ward in Sanga Local Government Area. The brazen attack took place in the dark of the night on the evening of Friday, 5 September 2025, as intruders broke into his home in Gwantu town at around 12:30 a.m. They abducted him in front of his family members, who were terrified, causing the entire community to be plunged into a panic.
This latest abduction continues the disturbing pattern of violence that has gotten more violent in recent times, with a number of fatalities that have been reported from nearby areas. A few days ago the deadly attack of attackers at Unguwan Rimi village, located within the Kauru Local Government Area, caused the deaths of seven, including children who were at risk, which highlights the constant dangers that everyday citizens face as well as elected officials. In the wake of these threats, there’s an urgent need to implement stronger protection strategies from security forces to protect the region and ensure stability for its residents.
