Celebrity bartender and socialite Pascal Okechukwu, alias Cubana Chief Priest, revealed that current U.S. visa problems prevented him from attending the Miami white wedding of his friend, singer Davido. He wrote on Instagram that he woke up “with mixed feelings,” both joyful for the new couple and sorrowful over his absence. He added that life challenges sometimes remind one of their limitations regardless of their status.
He noted the criticism he received online, saying that the backlash gave him even more reasons to reapply, personally appealing to the U.S. Embassy in Nigeria to allow him in this time. “Delay is never denial,” he wrote, hopeful and optimistic about entry. Though he could not be present physically, he indicated that his wife and members of his family were in Miami to represent him, adding that in spirit he was very much still part of the celebration. He wished Davido and Chioma “an amazing wedlock” in a warm message.
Cubana Chief Priest also announced plans to reapply for the visa next week and described his absence as extremely painful. He recalled that past denials were due to errors on his original visa application—errors made by someone else when he was much younger—that have been in the system and always resulted in rejection. Despite this, he is still willing to reapply and hopeful that he will soon be able to go to the U.S.
