A kidnapping case in Adamawa State has taken a disturbing turn after one of the suspects arrested was found to be the biological son of the abducted victim.
Security operatives arrested three suspects linked to the abduction of Alhaji Ahmadu, who was kidnapped on January 30, 2026, in Malabu community, Fufore Local Government Area.
According to the Adamawa State Police Command, the arrests followed a coordinated operation carried out in line with the directive of the Commissioner of Police to intensify action against criminal groups.
How the arrests happened
Police operatives, working alongside members of the Miyetti Allah local security outfit, raided a suspected kidnappers’ hideout in Jera village, Malabu District. Three men were apprehended during the operation.
They were identified as Lawali Haruna, 45; Yahaya Ibrahim, 25; and Da’u Alhaji Ahmadu, 28, all residents of Jera in Fufore Local Government Area.
Why the case is drawing attention
Police described the development as “more worrisome” after confirming that Da’u Alhaji Ahmadu is the son of the kidnapped man. According to the police, all three suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime.
The revelation has shocked residents, as cases involving family members are considered rare and deeply troubling within local communities.
What authorities are saying
The police said efforts are ongoing to rescue the victim safely and to track down other members of the kidnapping network. The suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue.
The Commissioner of Police commended the cooperation between the police and local security stakeholders, saying such collaboration remains critical to tackling crime in the state.
He also appealed to residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies.
Why this matters
Kidnapping remains a major security concern across parts of Nigeria. Cases involving insiders or close relatives raise fresh questions about trust, economic pressure, and the evolving nature of criminal networks at the community level.
For now, authorities say their focus remains on rescuing the victim unharmed and dismantling the entire syndicate behind the abduction.
