The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has announced the official results of its 2026 national elections following the conclusion of voting conducted by the Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (ECNBA).
Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, was elected as the 33rd President of the NBA, defeating two other senior lawyers to emerge victorious.
The results were announced on Sunday by the Chairman of the ECNBA, Aham Ejelam (SAN), at the NBA National Secretariat in Abuja.
Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya Elected NBA President
Badejo-Okusanya secured 12,317 votes, representing 47.18% of the total votes cast.
She defeated:
- Lateef Omoyemi Akangbe (SAN) – 7,934 votes (30.39%)
- Olumuyiwa Akinboro (SAN) – 5,855 votes (22.43%)
Her election marks a historic milestone as she becomes only the second woman to serve as President of the Nigerian Bar Association, following Priscilla Kuye, who led the association between 1991 and 1992.
She will serve a two-year term from 2026 to 2028.
Voter Turnout
According to the ECNBA, 26,184 lawyers voted in the election out of 82,172 registered voters, representing a voter turnout of 31.86%.
