Nigerian actress Eniola Badmus has vowed to take legal action against an X user who accused her of linking young girls to top politicians for money, in a post that went viral Thursday morning.
What Happened?
The user, @Femzydr1, claimed that Badmus, currently serving as Special Assistant to the Speaker of the Nigerian House of Representatives on Social Events and Public Hearings, allegedly used her political position and private network to exploit young women.
He accused the actress of connecting girls with politicians and movie executives, suggesting that she secured her government appointment through these alleged activities.
How Badmus Responded
Eniola Badmus denied the allegations, labeling them false and malicious, and warned the accuser of impending legal consequences. In a repost of the original X post, she wrote:
“This is the attention you’ve been craving for, so let’s get into it. This is a false accusation and the authorities will step in. Let it be known that we don’t forgive in this zone.”
The actress’s response comes amid public outrage online, with many Nigerians criticizing the spread of unverified claims on social media.
Why This Matters
The accusations echo a similar incident from three years ago, when a woman named Oge accused Badmus of being a professional pimp. That case ended after Oge admitted she was paid N200,000 to make the false claim.
Legal analysts note that the current allegations, if proven false, could expose the accuser to defamation charges under Nigerian law, highlighting the risks of spreading unverified claims on social media.
The situation underscores ongoing concerns about online harassment, misinformation, and the protection of public figures’ reputations in the digital age.
